Player Stats / Character Stat 05

WIS — Wisdom

A practical reference for how Wisdom affects magic resistance, maximum MP, regeneration, potion recovery, and character progression on Aegis.

How WIS is counted

Base, Added, and Total WIS

The server separates Wisdom into three useful categories:

  • Base WIS: your committed stat. It is used for pure-WIS regeneration bonuses and level-up MP rolls.
  • Added WIS: Wisdom from equipment, buffs, and temporary effects.
  • Total WIS: your current WIS plus Added WIS. It is used for magic resistance, maximum MP thresholds, and part of live MP regeneration.
Total WIS: current WIS + Added WIS

Equipment and buffs can raise Total WIS, but they do not count as Base WIS for pure-WIS regeneration thresholds.

Defense

Magic Resistance

All classes use the same Total-WIS magic resistance table. WIS-based MR is capped at +50.

Total WISWIS-based MR

15-16+3
17+6
18+10

23+47
24++50
Final MR: WIS base MR + equipment MR + skill/effect MR
  • The server-wide MR cap is 380.
  • The Resist Element passive adds another +5 MR, but this is not WIS-derived.
  • Erase Magic reduces effective MR by half.
  • Temporary WIS and equipment WIS can activate these thresholds because MR uses Total WIS.
  • There is no longer a class-specific WIS/MR progression.

Mana pool

Maximum MP

Total WIS grants cumulative maximum MP bonuses:

Total WISBonus at threshold
1-24+0
25++50
35++100 additional
45++150 additional
Total WISTotal WIS-based max MP
1-24+0
25-34+50
35-44+150
45++300

Temporary or equipment WIS can activate these thresholds. Final MP also includes level-up MP increases, direct item +MP, certain armor WIS effects, and other character-specific MP bonuses.

Armor MP bonus: current WIS divided by 2, multiplied by the armor WIS modifier

This direct armor bonus applies to some armor with an addwis attribute.

Recovery

Live MP Regeneration

Normal MP regeneration occurs once every 16 seconds. A live tick combines the Total-WIS component, Base-WIS MPR, pure-WIS bonus, item MPR, character MPR, and buffs or location bonuses.

MP restored: Total-WIS regeneration + Base-WIS MPR + pure-WIS bonus + item MPR + character MPR + buffs/location bonuses

Examples: 18 Total WIS gives +5, 24 gives +11, 25 gives +12, 35 gives +22, and 45 gives +32 from this component.

Base-WIS MPR table

This table uses Base WIS, not Total WIS.

Pure/Base-WIS regeneration breakpoints

These bonuses are cumulative and use Base WIS only:

Below 25+0
25++1
35++2
45++5
55++10
60++15

For example, a character with 45 Base WIS receives +14 Base-WIS MPR and a +5 pure-WIS bonus. Added WIS from equipment or buffs cannot activate these breakpoints.

MP regeneration is prevented when food is below 25 or the character is overweight. Certain skills, inns, top-ranked players, and special effects are exceptions.

Level-Up MP and Starting MP

Level-up MP

Every level-up rolls random MP using the character's current WIS. Equipment bonuses and other Added WIS are not used for this roll. The ranges below group nearby breakpoints for readability.

Stat allocation

Stat Level-Up Milestones

Characters receive stat allocation points beginning at level 51. Available stat points equal level minus 50. WIS can normally be raised to 45; at level 90 and above, the cap becomes 50.

WISDisplayed milestone bonuses
25+1 MPR, +1 potion regen, +50 max MP
35+1 MPR, +1 potion regen, +100 max MP
45+3 MPR, +3 potion regen, +150 max MP, penalty reduction

The server-side pure-WIS regeneration table continues beyond this with bonuses at 55 and 60 Base WIS, even though normal stat allocation is capped at 50.

Character creation

Character Creation Minimums

Character creation requires all six stats to total 75. These are the minimum Base WIS values by class:

ClassMinimum WIS
Royal11
Knight9
Elf12
Wizard14
Dark Elf10
Dragon Knight10
Illusionist14

Build interactions

Equipment and Buffs

Equipment and temporary effects that add WIS are stored as Added WIS. They can:

  • Increase Total-WIS MP regeneration.
  • Activate WIS-based MR thresholds.
  • Activate the 25, 35, and 45 Total-WIS max MP thresholds.
  • Change the displayed WIS stat values.

They do not increase Base-WIS pure regeneration breakpoints or change the WIS value used for level-up MP rolls. Added-WIS sources include WIS equipment, WIS buffs, Insight, Panic, temporary stat effects, and other item or skill effects.

What WIS Does Not Affect

WIS is not the primary stat for magic damage, magic hit, magic critical, or SP. Those calculations use INT.
